Pump until the cover pulls tight with no wrinkles, then push the valve in to seal it. Get it properly firm, like a basketball, not just inflated. A firm ball holds its shape, rolls true and gives your dog nothing to grab or bite.

Can puppies and older dogs use it?
Most dogs can enjoy it, but let energy and ability guide things. Keep sessions short and gentle for puppies and senior dogs, and check with your vet first if your dog has any joint or mobility issues. It's an active toy, so build up gradually rather than going flat out on day one.
What size dog is the MusterBall for?
It suits any dog that loves to chase, from energetic medium and large breeds through to smaller dogs with plenty of go. It's built large on purpose so your dog can't pick it up, which is what turns it from a chew toy into something they push and herd around.
How big and heavy is it?
It's a large ball, big enough that your dog pushes and herds it rather than carrying it. It has a bit of weight to it as well, which helps it roll properly and stand up to a solid nudge, while still being easy for your dog to move around. There's a handle on top so you can carry it out to the yard and back with one hand.
How firm should it be?
Properly firm, like a basketball, with the cover pulled tight and no wrinkles. This matters more than anything else. A firm ball holds its shape, rolls well and gives your dog nothing to grab, while a soft, under-inflated ball is the one thing they can get their teeth into.
Make sure it's firm before each session and top up the air whenever it starts to soften. For the quickest result, an electric pump or air compressor fills it faster than the hand pump.
Will my dog pop or destroy it?
When it's inflated firm there's nothing loose for teeth to grab, so most dogs simply chase and push it as intended. That said, no dog toy is indestructible. The MusterBall is made to be herded and chased, not chewed, so it isn't the right toy for a dog who would rather sink their teeth in and tear something apart. Keeping it firm and supervising play is the best way to get a long life out of it.
What surfaces can I use it on?
Grass is ideal, it rolls well and is easy on the cover. It's also fine on dirt, sand or other open ground. Try to avoid rough or abrasive surfaces like concrete, gravel and hot bitumen, since those will wear the cover down faster and aren't kind on your dog's paws at full pace either.
My dog isn't interested at first. What do I do?
Some dogs take to it instantly, others need a little encouragement. Try rolling it slowly in front of them, getting down and nudging it yourself, or using an excited voice to spark their interest. Most work it out within a few short sessions once they realise they can control it.
Is it safe for my dog?
Yes, when used as intended. Because your dog pushes and chases it rather than picking it up, it's gentler on teeth than a hard ball. Always supervise play, use it on open ground away from sharp objects, and put it away when you're not around to watch. Start new dogs off slowly so they can get used to it.
How do I set it up?
Slide the inner ball into the cover, inflate it until firm, seal the valve and zip it closed. It takes a couple of minutes by hand with the included pump. The most important part is getting it properly firm, which we cover just below.
Does it get hot in the sun?
It's fine to use in warm weather, just don't leave it sitting out in the heat once playtime's done. Bring it into the shade or indoors between sessions, both so the cover lasts longer and to keep it comfortable for your dog. See storage below for a note on heat and inflated balls.
How do I store it?
Deflate the inner ball and the cover packs down small, so it tucks away easily between sessions, no need to keep it inflated.
If you do leave it inflated, store it somewhere cool rather than a hot car or garage, since heat expands the air inside and can over-stress a fully pumped ball. Letting a little air out first is a good habit in warm weather.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the cover down with a damp cloth after muddy sessions. For a deeper clean, deflate the ball, unzip and remove the cover, and wash it by hand, then let it dry fully before putting it back together.
Can I use it indoors?
It's best outdoors, in a backyard, oval or park where there's room to move and nothing to knock over. It can be used indoors in a clear open space, but given its size most dogs get far more out of it outside.
Can more than one dog play with it?
Yes, plenty of dogs love chasing it together and it can be a great way to wear out two at once. Just supervise group play and keep an eye out for any over-excitement, the same as you would with any shared toy.
